Here we go again

Currently listening to: "Set Yourself on Fire" -Stars
Clementines consumed today: 2

Well, my winter break-themed blogging didn't seem to work out so much. I kept myself busy in the last week visiting my roommate in her hometown and other close friends I hadn't seen in a while.

I've only had two days of classes and I'm already in the swing of things. I'm trying out Italian, pursuing further French, adding a touch of creativity in Fiction Writing, and topping it all off with Geology and Cinema. Which is exactly what it sounds like.

I didn't read as many books or watch as many films as I planned to over break, so I have plenty of things to occupy myself over the semester as I try to stretch out the time until I have to start working again. I'd really prefer to have a semester of me, classes, and the city, and make up for it by working my ass off in the summer. But we'll see how long that goes. I'm definitely going to need the money.

Io mi chiamo Taylor. Io sono studentessa d'italiano.

Sneezing, Coughing, Medicating, Napping Days

December 21st-January 1st
First: New year
Read: The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls
Watched: Marathons of Law and Order: SVU, Inglourious Basterds, Love Actually

I've had a cold since mid-November, and in the last week of 2009 it got progressively worse. An average day in the life of Taylor would look something like this, if one unit measured to one hour. (à la About A Boy)

1 unit: eating
1 unit: consuming caffeine
4 units: Law and Order: SVU
8 units: sleeping
10 units: Sims 2 University (and yes, I made a Middlebrook Hall)

However, I have had some slightly more social events in these days. Holidays with the family are always an interesting time, especially when my mom gets me drunk on wine. I spent Christmas in a snow globe at my grandma's house. I think we got 20 inches of snow, and it was gorgeous.

On Christmas Day the fam got together for some good ol' Nazi killing and watched Inglourious Basterds.

On New Year's Eve I went to a black and white formal at my friend Meagan's house, and despite my itching for Minneapolis, it was nice to see my high school friends again. Sleeping over was fun, too, and as the fifth wheel I got to cuddle with the cat.

Other than that, my break has been exactly as I expected it to be: lots of sitting around with absolutely no stress. Ever. I just wish this cold would finally go away.

Now, New Years resolutions? Um, I'll make it a cliché one and say lose weight. Or the one I do every year and never resolve: write a novel. OR I could follow USA Network's advice and "resolve to watch"Law and Order: SVU. I'd say I've got a pretty good start on that.

Happy 2010!
